MEET OUR VETERINARIANS IN PORTLAND, OR

Dr. Duane Schaad — Veterinary Clinic in St., Portland OR
Dr. Duane Schaad is the practice owner. He grew up in Africa as his parents moved there prior to his birth to work as missionaries. There he met his wife, Karen, whose parents were also missionaries. In 1970, at the age of 18, he moved back to Oregon. He graduated with a B.S. from Oregon State University in 1975, and in 1979 received his D.V.M. from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He spent the next 12 years practicing in the community before opening Broadway Veterinary Clinic in 1993. Dr. Schaad also works with several nonprofit organizations where he volunteers his time going to under developed countries doing spay and neuter campaigns. During his off time, Duane, enjoys biking and traveling.

Dr. Martee Pennel — Veterinary Clinic in St., Portland OR
Dr. Martee Pennel has been with Broadway Veterinary Clinic since 1995. She started in 1983, working as a Vet Tech after graduating from Portland Community College School of Veterinary Technology. She received her B.S. in Economics from the University of Oregon in 1989 and her D.V.M. in 1993 from Oregon State University. Dr. Pennel also works with nonprofit organizations where she volunteers her time traveling to under developed countries. Dr. Pennel lives on the Columbia River with her diabetic Jack Russell Terrier and her 2 cats. She enjoys boating, photography and traveling.

Dr. Brent Carroll — Veterinary Clinic in St., Portland OR
Dr. Brent Carroll has been with Broadway Veterinary Clinic since 2000. He splits his time between being with us on Fridays and some Saturdays and running his own house call practice, Fetch & Heal. Dr. Carroll graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Animal Science, and earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech University in 1995. He is originally from Elkton, MD but moved to Portland soon after receiving his D.V.M. and has practiced locally since. He lives with his wife Debra, his son Foster, and his two dogs, Cami and Tilly. During his free time, Dr. Carroll enjoys being with his family, friends, and backpacking. He is a great resource for those wanting to have their pets compassionately euthanized at home and for those who would prefer to have their veterinary care done in their own house.
